Community Mental Health Care in Nigeria.
Centre for Rehabilitation
Edawu is a 16 bedded therapeutic community centre for those
who have become homeless due to mental health problems.
Psychiatric Clinics
Edawu also runs Psychiatric Clinics, providing medication and
support for people living in the community experiencing mental health problems as well as discharged residents.
Working in partnership
ACCEPT has seen the huge difference that can take place by
working in partnership. We have witnessed the powerful results that can be achieved in enabling care and rehabilitation to
be provided as an alternative to destitution and maltreatment.
It is recognised that partnership links between NHS Trusts
and projects in developing countries bring enormous potential for change to all those involved.
Working collaboratively, ACCEPT and the Leicestershire
Partnership NHS Trust aim to support EDAWU in acheiving its goal. This includes implementing accessible, affordable and sustainable
systems of mental healthcare.
