The ACCEPT Friendship Group Model enables friendships to be built for individuals, experiencing difficulties with their mental health, who feel isolated. ACCEPT provides the training and resources to enable partners to establish the groups, which meet weekly in community settings, such as pubs and cafés.
The Friendship Group Model involves:
- Awareness Raising of issues related to mental health, isolation and how the Friendship Group Model responds to these needs.
- Benefits to Group Members who meet weekly in community settings such as pubs and cafes.
- Community Partnerships between mental health service providers, (including NHS, Social Services and MIND) and churches, who work together to initially establish Friendship Groups.
- Developing Friendship Groups in your area through effective leadership, training, use of resources, and collaborative working between committed partners.

ACCEPT's partner project Edawu,
in Nigeria, West Africa, provides a centre of rehabilitation to
those who have become homeless due to mental health problems as well as
psychiatric clinics to it's surrounding community. |
