ACCEPT delivers a training programme for Volunteer Group Development Workers (GDWs), in which key issues related to Friendship Groups are explored within 5 x 1 day workshops:
Mental Health Workshop
Exploring different types of mental health problems, including the signs, symptoms, treatment and the effects on lives as well as the pros and cons of diagnosis.
Groups Workshop
Exploring the value, power and development of groups including needs met in groups, stages of group formation, alongside destructive and constructive behaviours within group development.
Isolation & Mental Health Workshop
Exploring issues related to isolation and mental health including the experience and effects of isolation alongside the process
of 'COMING OUT' of isolation and cycle of change.
Friendship & Mental Health Workshop
Exploring issues related to friendship and mental health including types, initiation and growth of friendships, categories for
understanding intimacy and the effects of Christ like friendship.
Roles Workshop
Exploring the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches to caring, boundary and co-dependency issues.
If partners are interested in delivering the training programme themselves in the future, appropriate trainers may use the ACCEPT Trainer's Manual, after co-faciltating the programme of workshops with ACCEPT Staff.
